Asst. Prof. Didem Türkoğlu was elected to the ASA Section on Collective Behavior and Social Movements

Asst. Prof. Didem Türkoğlu from the KHAS Core Program was elected to the Section on Collective Behavior and Social Movements (CBSM) of the American Sociological Association (ASA), the largest international sociological association with more than 20 thousand members.

The ASA consists of sections covering various subfields of sociology. Dr. Türkoğlu, who works in political sociology and social movements, will serve for the CBSM section focusing on collective behavior and social movements and bringing approximately 1000 members working in this field.

The council governing this section consists of Dr. Türkoğlu from Kadir Has University and six sociologists from leading North American universities, including the University of California, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of British Columbia, McGill University, and the University of Toronto. During her three-year term as a council member, Didem Türkoğlu will represent the social movements section, make recommendations to guide the academic research and programs, develop existing programs, and carry out the decisions taken together with the president-elect.
